Sports Diver

One of my things on my bucket list last year was to complete my sports diver training (the next step up on the ladder of scuba diving) I did the majority of the training last year and only have three things to complete; a practical rescue session (which we’ve decided would be better to wait until the weather is warmer), a nitrox dive and an exam. Oh the exam. I hated the ocean diver exam, yes its multiple choice but its also worded in a way to attempt to catch you out, so I’m guessing their going to do the same this time round. Gulp.

So I’m doing some proper revising for this, complete with notebook, highlighter, tables, calculator and tea. The exam is next Thursday evening and I’m feeling vaguely prepared for all apart from one area which I don’t remember at all. Maybe I was asleep during that part of the lectures? Sorry Nick/Dave aka my instructors!

Wish me luck!

    1. Yep diving is scary but great, where did you go diving? I’ve mostly been in the UK but really want to go diving in the Red Sea

      2. We went to Cornwall last year and that was really good, loads of wrecks, but visibility is very variable depending on the weather. Have you done a PADI or BSAC course? Next year I’m going to Shetland and that’s supposed to be really good as well, lots of seals!

      3. Oooh he’s always wanted to do a wreck dive! I can imagine visibility can be a bit tough though. We’ve only done the discover Scuba with PADI so need to get the next level before we really do any more. Oooh I’m all up for seeing some animals other than fish! Haha
Mexico was really good, the current was quite strong but visibility was really clear so you could see loads. We were lucky enough to do two dive sites in one which was a plus as well!

      4. Definitely worth it and with a good torch you’re fine. Awww I’m so jealous, I’ll add it to my list of places to go, I did some snorkeling in New Zealand but haven’t been diving anywhere else yet.

      5. Ah that’s alright then!! Yeah definitely do, once I was in the water and had got over my nerves it was amazing, we went snorkelling at Akmul beach as well and were lucky enough to swim with a rather large turtle. Always go snorkelling on holiday but this was the first time actually scuba
